En anderledes julesang

[spacer height=”10px”]

2013 har været et begivenhedsrigt år for den folkekære Mike Tramp. Siden udgivelsen af den semi akustiske ”Cobblestone Street har Mike Tramp været på en enorm tour igennem Europa, Australien og USA. For at slutte året med maner smider Tramp julesinglen ”The Way It Was Before” der har et mere seriøst budskab end de fleste andre julesange:

[spacer height=”10px”]

[spacer height=”10px”]

Sidst men bestemt ikke mindst er Morten Remar klar med sin julesingle ”Jeg Kommer Hjem Nu” singlen er samtidig Morten Remars tilbagevenden til at skrive på dansk igen. Noget han vil fortsætte med på det næste album han allerede er i gang med. Morten fortæller;

[spacer height=”10px”]

“Jeg har ikke opgivet at få udgivet eller solgt nogle sange med udenlandske kunstnere og det er da lykkedes en enkelt gang i år, men nu vender jeg tilbage til dansk på mit næste album og det er næsten en befrielse at skrive på sit eget sprog igen.”

[spacer height=”10px”]

“Jeg Kommer Hjem Nu” bliver fulgt op af en animeret musikvideo tegnet og produceret af sangeren og musikeren selv.

Alle singler er udkommet via Target Group.

MIKE TRAMP udgiver atypisk julesingle

[bs_collapse]

MIKE TRAMP releases an atypical Christmas single – Pre-stream it exclusively on the Classic Rock Magazine website.

2013 has been an eventful year for the former White Lion and Freak of Nature front man MIKE TRAMP. Since the release of the praised semi-acoustic solo album “Cobblestone Street” in April, Mike has been touring constantly in all of Europe, Australia and in the states. This year alone he has been playing over a hundred shows!
To wrap up 2013 with manner Tramp will be releasing the Christmas single “The Way It Was Before”, which is lot more serious than most other Christmas songs. Mike Tramp explains:

[spacer height=”20px”]

”The Way It Was Before” is actually a song that I have kept for many years.  The song would never have been written if it haven’t been for the events in New York City September 11th 2001, although it doesn’t mention what happened that day.
I experienced the tragedy from my home in Tasmania at the time and remember the emptiness and feeling of helplessness that I got. New York City had meant everything to me. It was where I went to live out my dream and where my American history began.
New York City was the city that I had called my home for many, many years. I even won a New York City Music Award as best rock singer. September 11th changed everything. Suddenly we all had to give up part of our freedom and learn to live with the chaos and the restrictions that came with it. At Christmas time that year I sat with my guitar, and it was there that the song came to me. A longing to return to the way that things used to be.”

”The Way It Was Before” will be released in Europe via Target Records November 11th 2013, but you can already pre-stream the song on Classic Rock Magazine website here: link

Mike Tramp

“I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been asked. That if I could do it all over again, what would I change? It’s a tricky question and for an artist, sometimes an unfair one.

Because when we looked back, hindsight is always 20/20 and we know it all, and familiar with the Monday morning quarterback scenario, where everyone knows where he should have thrown the ball or kicked it. What the hell did I know when I walked into the recording studio the first time in 1976 to record my first album? The answer is nothing, and I can honestly admit, it didn’t really change 10 years or 20 years later on. With every album I recorded or every tour I finished I always came home with so much more knowledge than when I started it, and always wished I’d known it all at the beginning.

I often listen to my many previous solo albums and say to myself I should have sung it this way or changed the melody that way. At the same time, I accept that it was the best I could do at that moment! I worked with what I had and knew. This life doesn’t often give you a Second Time Around, but if it does – consider yourself lucky and grab it. The songs on “Second Time Around” have been with me for a long, long time. I remember writing the first song “When She Cries”, October 2, 2005 the day after my daughter Isabel had been born. It was like a whole new door opened and all these songs came out over the next few months along with a whole other bunch of songs, which have all ended up on different albums. You can say it was the most creative time in my 44 years in the rock’n’roll uniform.

Still it was also a time where I was floating around between good and bad and didn’t know where I should go with my career. I was very confused and had no one in my life I could trust to guide me. Should I follow the idea of a new version of White Lion, which at that time I was in the middle of and kept me awake all night and many times left me with so much regret and shame? Or should I continue with what I had started in 1996, when I recorded my first solo album “Capricorn” and became a solo artist, and by 2005 had a total of four solo albums behind me that actually told me, it is clear who Mike Tramp is as an artist. But very unusual for Mike Tramp, I was lost and could not find anything to hold on to.

My second child had just been born, life was suddenly different, and my rock’n’roll world was changing faster than I could run.

The songs on “Second Time Around” are some of my favorite compositions, and for many years I have gone around with a feeling that they were never given a real chance. I have missed them in my live shows and I have missed singing them. So when I made the decision to rebuild and resurrect this bunch of songs, with the help of my trusted brothers in rock’n’roll who have all been a part of my last seven solo albums in different ways, it was truly a chance to go for a “Second Time Around”, and this time I grabbed it, clear in my mind and focused like never before. A great moment of embracing that the songs I have written always clearly expresses who Mike Tramp is.

I am proud of these songs. They are like my other albums and 100% representation of who Mike Tramp is. If aliens came down to earth and happened to pick up “Second Time Around” as the first Mike Tramp album they heard, I would be truly proud and confident that all of my DNA, would be in this album”. Mike Tramp, somewhere on the road 2020.
